What IP ratings do bathroom lights need?
Bathroom lights need the correct IP rating to safely cope with moisture and splashes. For many areas of the bathroom, an IP44 rating is the minimum requirement, although lights installed closer to a bath or shower may need a higher rating depending on the bathroom zone. Every bathroom light in our collection is IP44 rated or above, making them suitable for bathroom use when installed in the correct location. If you're unsure, your electrician will be able to advise.
Can I use pendant lights in a bathroom?
Yes. Pendant lights can look particularly striking in bathrooms with higher ceilings, adding character above a freestanding bath or as a central feature. The important thing is choosing a light with the correct IP rating for where it will be installed. Every bathroom pendant light in our collection is IP44 rated or above, but your electrician can help ensure it's fitted in the appropriate bathroom zone.
Where should bathroom wall lights be positioned?
For the most flattering light, place bathroom wall lights either side of a mirror, around eye level. This creates an even spread of light that's ideal for shaving, applying makeup or your morning routine. A single light above the mirror can work too, but side lighting helps reduce shadows across your face and creates a softer, more balanced effect.
