Our Story.
Founded in 1985, with exceptional design at its heart
Growing up in a rural part of Britain, these timeless lights
were part of the landscape. We became inspired by how they seemed to fit
perfectly within a variety of different interior styles, from inside country
cottages and 16th-century barn conversions to Georgian townhouses
and even contemporary newbuilds. Old School Electric was created to celebrate
these classic lighting styles and to preserve the styles that have been part of
Britain’s heritage for so long.
First launched at Clerkenwell Design Week in 2013, our
collection has since evolved into a wide range of lighting inspired by
industrial and twentieth-century British design. We design each light in-house
from our base in the UK countryside, making sure each piece balances authentic
heritage character with the quality, practicality and safety standards expected
in modern homes.
Our Sister Company
Like the designs that have inspired us, we believe good
lighting should feel like it’s always belonged. Rather than follow trends, we
focus on authentic materials, classic proportions and timeless detailing that
will look just as good years from now as they do today. Thick, prismatic glass,
hand-finished metalwork, opal glass shades and carefully developed finishes all
help create lights with genuine character that improve with age.
